FAA Names Manager of Airport Design and Construction Branch
Alberto Cruz has been appointed as the new Manager of the FAA’s Airport Design and Construction Branch (AAS-110). He will be starting his new role in the week beginning April 25, according to Michael A.P. Meyers, P.E., Manager of the Airport Engineering Division, FAA Office of Airport Safety and Standards.
“Alberto has had an extensive career spanning over 25 years in aviation, which he began as a project manager at San Francisco International Airport in 1996,” Meyers said, adding, “In 2006, he worked as an airport engineering consultant, helping airports with planning, design and construction projects. He has worked in different business capacities with extensive knowledge in Consultant Business Development; Office, Staff, and Airport Client Management; and stakeholder engagement.”
Cruz joined the FAA’s Western Pacific Region (AWP) in May of 2016 serving as the Regional Lead Engineer. In this capacity, he served as the subject matter expert for airport design, pavement, and construction standards. In October of 2019, he joined the San Francisco Airports District Office (ADO) and served as the Assistant ADO Manager, Meyers said, adding that Cruz is a registered professional civil engineer in California and a certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives.
Meyers also thanked Carlton Lambiasi for serving as acting manager for the past four months. He also thanked D’Lorah Small, Steven Debban, and Rodney Joel for serving in the acting manager role previously.
